Week 2

Valentine's Lights with Bentley

What's up everyone! Thanks for the emails this week! It was fun to hear from you. I am calling this my second week but really I just finished my first full week of the MTC.

Week two was just as great -if not better- than week one! I found out that my companion and I are on the same flight to Michigan so that is going to be fun! We will have to take some pictures on the plane together. My sleeping schedule is way better and I am no longer completely exhausted during the day. I wake up each morning really invigorated and full of energy which is a huge blessing. I never thought I would be able to wake up everyday before 10am with energy and purpose. But, here I am! It has been really cool to watch myself transform into a missionary. I am only a little over a week into my mission and I am already a completely different person spiritually than I was before I started the MTC.

My district and I have gotten really close this week. We do district zoom meetings each morning before class together. This week we decided that we needed to grow closer as a district. So, every morning before our first class we do a little "spotlight" to get to know each of the district members a little better and that has been fun. It has been really cool to see that even over zoom, we can still become friends and feel the spirit strongly in class.

Last week on P-Day my grandfather and I went on a hike to this spot that overlooks the Las Vegas valley and that was really fun. Then my family all went off-roading and played some board games together. I am going to miss Las Vegas! Tomorrow I am flying to Boise to finish the MTC and then I will fly to Michigan. Today, I went hiking with my Grandma and saw some petroglyphs which was really fun.

Funny moment from the week

My district and I have started to get to know our teachers really well which has been fun. We ask all of them questions a lot, and we even got to meet my teacher's wife! Some elders in my district all changed their names to our teachers' name, and made my teacher's profile picture their background. So when she got back from our ten minute break, there were like six Sister Hyer's on the zoom call with the exact same profile picture and name. I laughed really hard at that one. There is no shortage of laughs with my district and it has been really fun.

Also, my brother Bentley is quite entertaining to have around. This week when I was doing some practice teaching appointments, he would barge into the office in the middle of my Zoom call while I was talking -so I could not mute myself- and would pretend to shoot me with a nerf gun. Then he would laugh really hard and slam the door as loud as he could. I kept trying to stop myself from laughing while the people on zoom were confused at where the noise was coming from. I am going to miss Bentely.

Spiritual Thought:

Doctrine and Covenants 43: 15-16

15 Again I say, hearken ye elders of my church, whom I have appointed: Ye are not sent forth to be taught, but to teach the children of men the things which I have put into your hands by the power of my Spirit;

16 And ye are to be taught from on high. Sanctify yourselves and ye shall be endowed with power, that ye may give even as I have spoken.

I love verses about missionary work.

I hope everyone has an amazing week!
