WEEK 11
Good Morning everyone!
This week was a great week here in the Michigan Lansing Mission! It was something we call "sprint week" this week. Sprint Weeks happen every-so-often and basically, we set a goal as a mission to extend invitations in different categories. Every Sprint Week our goal for invitations extended increases a ton. This week, our goal was 7500 invitations and can anyone guess how many we extended as a mission by the end of the week? Don't worry, I will tell you. We witnessed a huge miracle with over 11,000 invitations extended! I thought that was pretty amazing.
Service this week was fun! Elder Corry and I did some service for our friend Tyrone in his backyard again, as well as serving in the Soup Kitchen!
We also were able to do our first in-person member lessons! That was a huge milestone for us. Nobody in Michigan has been able to go to member's homes since the beginning of the Pandemic! The Bishop and another family in our ward had us over to share a spiritual message. It was so cool to actually interact with people face to face instead of over Zoom.
I want to keep this week's email short because my last one was really long. Overall, it was a good week. We see lots of small miracles in this work everyday and I can testify to you that the Lord in the details! I love you all have a good week!
Funny moment:
We have a senior couple in our District and they are the best! They are so funny. Elder and Sister Sommers crack me up. But anyways we like to send pictures into our Zone Chat with all the missionaries in our zone just to spice things up. So, Elder Tongi sent in some we took at dinner last P-Day of my companion and I. At District Council on Wednesday, Elder Sommers walked up to me and showed me the picture and said "When I saw this", (pointing to me in the picture) "I thought Elder Corry was on a date with a cute girl". You can imagine he had the whole District rollin' at that one. The lighting is funny in the picture and it makes my lips look red I guess? So he also asked if I was wearing lipstick in the picture. I thought it was pretty hilarious. I guess what I have learned so far on the mission is that according to Elder Sommers, I would make a cute girl... So yeah that was pretty funny. I will add the picture he is talking about below so you can all see for yourself.
Spiritual Thought:
There is power that comes from a desire to increase our faith. I have been studying President Russel M. Nelson's talk on increasing our faith in the Savior lately! It has been so interesting to learn precisely how to increase our faith. So I want to invite you all to actively increase your faith in Jesus Christ! Take those steps President Nelson outlined. One of the most important he listed was number 5, which is to ask Heavenly Father for help. Matthew 7:7 says
7 ¶ aAsk, and it shall be bgiven you; cseek, and ye shall find; dknock, and it shall be opened unto you:
If you ask the Lord for help, he will help you increase your faith. In fact, he will help you with any problem you have if you turn to him!
