Week 1
What's up everyone!
This first week in the MTC has been really great! I didn't really know what to expect when I entered the MTC online, but it has been a cool experience. It has never been more clear to me that the Lord does not stop His work from progressing. Even over zoom, I am able to feel the spirit and learn a lot. This first week was a challenge. I wake up each day at 530 am because the Provo MTC is on Mountain time which is an hour ahead of me. The first day was especially rough as I attempted to keep my eyes open during class. I took a lot of naps on my breaks that first day. But everyday since I have been alert and attentive (for the most part) in my classes.
My district is really cool and my companion and I get along really well. Yesterday after class ended a lot of our district got onto a zoom call and talked and laughed for about an hour and a half. It was very fun! It is slightly stressful trying to inhale all the information I am learning in the MTC so I can be an effective teacher but I know that I will be able to learn what I need to and that by the time I enter the field I will be ready to teach. My teachers are really great and I love feeling the spirit everyday.
The best way I can describe the Online MTC is if you went to EFY where everyone was on zoom, and you felt the spirit 10x more. So it's like EFY on steroids. My family and I have played lots of board games during my breaks and it has been really fun.
I will share a spiritual and funny message each week in my emails.
Funny story:
Yesterday while I was in class, it was almost time for lunch and we were two and half hours into our three hour class and I was starting to get really tired. I would catch myself falling asleep and shoot up in my seat, and then start to fall asleep again. At one point, I laid my head down and I was asleep and suddenly I jolted awake when I heard a loud voice say "pay attention". I assumed it was my teacher but when class ended and I was re-thinking my class while I made lunch, I am not so sure. My companion and I laughed about it later when he described his view of the class. It is kind of hard to be discrete about sleeping when you put the zoom class on gallery view (where you can see everyone at once). My companion shared that I was just slumped with my forehead in the camera view. I hope my teacher didn't see me.
Spiritual Thought:
One of my favorite scriptures this week was Doctrine and Covenants 31:31"Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation."
